Baby Express ® - a term developed by Natural Languages for the specialized program
Baby Express® is designed to ensure that an expectant mother has a personal interpreter. A primary and secondary interpreter will be assigned to each mother-to-be for the duration of her pregnancy. Mom-to-be is accompanied to all prenatal visits by an interpreter she knows. We take into consideration how special the journey to motherhood is and we thrive on knowing that the basic means of communication will be met. Creating a special intimate bond with an interpreter, doctor and staff is essential. The interpreter will be readily available whenever that special moment arrives; this knowledge provides a great level of relief for all parties involved, therefore, setting the bar a tad higher.
IF you firmly believe that no mother should be left to wonder if there will be an interpreter ready “on the spot”. Which is often the case. This program will eliminate all worries for the patient and her medical team.
Although you may be working with another agency we are sure that 95% of the time interpreters differ day to day. To keep up with the quality care control we find that the hospital administrators find it comfortable and pleasant to have the interpreter ready to go freeing them from the task of scrambling for a last minute interpreter and hope that there will be someone available for your patient’s labor and delivery.
It has been found that many non-English speakers find it difficult to maneuver through the complicated terrains of the hospital due to the language barriers. Here is why. 99 percent of the time babies decide to enter the world without notice. Normal hospital procedure in obtaining an interpreter requires a set appointment that is known in advance. However, when dealing with mothers to be, there isn’t any advance notice, therefore, the hospital is left “scrambling” for an interpreter. Consider this, if the mother-to-be is about to have an emergency cesarean and not the hospital is not able to communicate this with the patient, the hospital is taking on a hefty liability which hospital may want to avoid.
